In the summer of 2007, the New River United Soccer Association (NRUSA) canceled its fall 2007 adult soccer league. In response, the Blacksburg Adult Soccer Club (BASC) was founded to not only replace the NRUSA in organizing soccer matches in the fall and spring for adult players in the New River Valley, but to also promote awareness of this popular sport. ......
Blacksburg Adult Soccer Club (BASC) is committed to develop, promote, and administer the game of soccer among men and women players over eighteen (18) years of age within Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford and the surrounding areas in the New River Valley. The BASC promotes healthy competition as an outlet for adults in a fast growing community.
Since our first weekend, the league has invested several thousand dollars towards new equipment, specifically goals, soccer nets, and other miscellaneous items. It was necessary to purchase this equipment for not only the long term future of our league, but to provide the town of Blacksburg with needed soccer material. It is our hope that the league can help foster a new appreciation for soccer among the residents of the New River Valley.
